COLUMBIA, SC -- We have information coming in to the newsroom on a developing story near Lake Carolina.
Lieutenant Chris Cowan with the Richland County Sheriff's Department has notified WACH FOX News about finding two bodies near Lake Carolina today.
Two girls were reported missing on Saturday from the Lake Carolina community. Sunday afternoon, someone in the area found some shoes near the lake. Deputies responded to the call and eventually found the bodies of these girls. Richland County Coroner Gary confirmed their identities. The bodies were those of 16-year-old Chantel Lawson and 14-year-old Jevonn Lawson.
The cause of death is still under investigation, but Coroner Watts does not suspect foul play. An autopsy will be performed sometime tomorrow.
