If you made a New Years resolution to get healthy, the American Heart Association suggests lacing up a pair of sneakers and taking a walk.
The Association says Americans are 76 percent more likely to walk if they have a buddy joining them. David Sloan with the American Heart Association says taking a walk can save your life.
"Walking just 30 minutes a day significantly reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke. Heart disease being the number one killer, it kills more people than the next 5 causes of death combined," Sloan said. Researchers say for every hour a person exercises they add two hours to their lifespan.
In order to get people moving, the association created the start program. It's an online networking website where walkers can meet other walkers on the journey to a healthy lifestyle.
