ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- The husband of a South Carolina woman whose body was found in a trash can has been charged with her murder.
Anderson police say arrest warrants were issued Monday for 43-year-old Billy Ray Burriss on a murder charge. He also is wanted on other charges, including aggravated criminal domestic violence and damage to personal property.
Anderson Police spokesman Randall Williams said the body of his wife, 51-year-old Suzanne Burriss, was found shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday. County Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman says she had been shot at least once in the back.
Police are still looking for her husband. Officers surrounded a home where they thought he might be, but found it empty.
