In Richland County a domestic violence call turns a lot more physical after deputies arrive. They responded around 4:00 Friday morning at the Reserve apartments on Faraway drive. That's where a A deputy shot the suspect, after investigators say the man tried to run the officer over.
19-year-old Tikka tells WACH FOX News her relationship with her live-in boyfriend, Brian Walden, is usually great. Although, Thursday night was a different story.
Sheriff Leon Lott says, "She was struck in the face and held against her will." When deputies tried to arrest Walden things turned ugly. "He ran and jumped into a vehicle. At that point he struck Deputy Craig Belton three times with vehicle," says Lott. That's when Investigators say Deputy Belton pulled out a gun and fired three shots. One of the bullets hit Walden in the arm. "At that point he gave up and was arrested. We're very fortunate that the deputy didn't receive any additional injuries than what he had," says Lott.
Walden is facing several charges. The case has now been handed over to the South Carolina Law Enforcement
division. Walden's mother tells WACH FOX NEWS her son is still in the hospital waiting to have surgery.
