Imagine this, you're pregnant, going into labor and there's not a doctor in sight so your teenage cousin has to help deliver your baby.
That's exactly what happened to a Midlands woman.
John Grimes is in the 11th grade and has an after school job. By most accounts, he's your average teenager, but to his family, he's more than that, he's a hero.
His pregnant cousin, Ciara Richardson, thought she was going into labor last Sunday night. She went to the hospital ready for doctors to deliver her second baby girl. Instead, Richardson says nurses told her it was a false alarm. She went back home where her pain grew more intense.
"She was in a lot of pain, just moaning and groaning," says John.
When he went in to check on Ciara, her water broke. He called paramedics but the baby wasn't going to wait.
"She started to push so I had to get up and get ready to grab it. I just winged it. I told her to just push, just push; but I was scared," says John.
Five minutes later, he was holding little Aniya.
"It was a surprise because I never thought I'd have my baby at home," says Ciara. She did go to the hospital.
Two days later, Ciara was happy to be back home with her healthy baby girl. Now little Aniya shares a big bond with her cousin John.
"I was just amazed. I felt grateful that I was able to witness her birth," says John.
