A 17-year-old Irmo High School student faces several charges.
Deputies say Chelsea Priester brought 40 bags of marijuana to school Wednesday morning.
A teacher found one of the bags and reported the incident to the school's resource officer. The principal then requested that the Sheriff's Department conduct a K-9 search in the classroom.
During the search the dog detected an odor from Priester's book bag.
The student was then escorted to the front office where she removed the drugs from her clothing.
Deputies say the drugs were packaged in bags for distribution.
Priester was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center. She was released on $20,000 bond.
