ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- A father of four who admitted he drove the getaway car that was supposed to be used in the robbery of a taxi driver has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for lying about the cabbie's death.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reported that 28-year-old Michael Turner apologized to the driver's family as he pleaded guilty Wednesday to obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to a murder.
Prosecutors say Turner called for a cab in September 2006, then followed as two other men got into the taxi.
Authorities say Major Davenport was shot in the head. The shooter, Mike Gray, pleaded guilty to murder earlier this year and was sentenced to life in prison.
A third defendant, Joseph Stevenson, is awaiting trial on a murder charge.
