NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- One person was killed and three others injured when a 44-foot sailboat sank more than 100 miles off the Atlantic City coast.

Three people were onboard the sailboat, named 'Freefall,' when it sank Wednesday. One person drowned; two others were rescued by the Coast Guard, which sent crews from six different units after receiving an emergency call from the boat.

The two were identified as South Carolina residents.

One Coast Guard rescue swimmer was injured due to heavy seas and was flown back to the shore for treatment.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Crystalynn Kneen says the injuries suffered by the rescuer and the two sailboat occupants are not life-threatening.

The names of those are onboard were not released pending family notification.
