Authorities search for missing SC inmate

A minimum-security inmate walked away from his work assignment at a farming facility in Greenville Tuesday.

Joe Dean Bellis was confirmed missing from Columbia Farms around 10:20 a.m. Bellis is serving a four-year sentence for grand larceny at the Livesay Correctional Institution in Spartanburg.

Bellis, 39, was last seen wearing a gray-hooded jacket, white T-shirt and blue jeans. He is a white male, around 5-feet-10-inches tall, has brown hair and weighs about 170 pounds.

Bellis began serving his sentence in September 2007.

He faces a felony escape charge and an additional one to 15 years in prison.
