Police have identified and issued warrants for a suspect in the murder of a Columbia man.

Authorities say 20-year-old Jeremiah Dontrell Simmons was found with gunshot wounds around 5:15 p.m. Monday at the Bethel Bishop Apartments on Ripplemeyer Avenue. Witnesses say Simmons and the suspect got into an argument before the shooting.

Simmons was taken to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. He died Tuesday morning.

Eighteen-year-old Darrius L. Byrd is wanted for murder. Police expect additional warrants to be issued as they continue their investigation.

If you have any information about this case, or know where Byrd may be, call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
