FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina drill sergeant faces five years in prison and a bad conduct discharge after being convicted of sexual assault charges at the Army's largest training center.

Fort Jackson spokesman Pat Jones said Saturday that Staff Sgt. Louis Corral was convicted of forcible sodomy, cruelty and maltreatment of subordinates, and other charges.

The public was not notified of the court-martial, and no official summary of the case was provided.

The State of Columbia reports (http://bit.ly/ZL2j9T ) that one of Corral's accusers said she was one of three female recruits attacked by Corral during basic training.

Pfc. Natasha Woodruff of Defiance, Ohio, said Corral made sexual gestures and comments during her basic training between last November and February 2012. The 20-year-old is now stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.
