COLUMBIA (WACH) - It's the second time in USC history the Gamecocks have been ranked as high as number three, and in a city that bleeds garnet and black if the fans are happy businesses are happy.
Willie Durkin owner of the Thirsty Fellow said his restaurant sees a tremendous boost in business during gamedays.
"My friends and colleagues, I've spoken with in the restaurant business all had tremendous weekends simply because the magnitude of the game," said Durkin.
Durkin says the location of Thirsty Fellow also helps because across the street shuttles pick up people to go to and from the games.
"We figured they'd be back here by 11 of course we were fortunate enough to have a win and then we got the post game crowd," said the restaurant owner.
Matthew Bean works nextdoor to Thirsty Fellow at Miss Cocky's, a store that sells everything Gamecock.
Bean said their sales are beating last year sales.
"You can't walk during a Friday or gameday in here, because everyone is just trying to get that last minute item to make their tailgate perfect,"said Bean.
