COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Four political science scholars from the University of South Carolina are offering their insights into this year's presidential race as it enters its final week.

University spokeswoman Peggy Binette says Monday's panel discussion meets at 7 p.m. in Gambrell Hall on the university's Columbia campus.

It features remarks from Laura Woliver on interest groups and gender politics and Todd Shaw on African-American politics and social movements. Other speakers include Robert Oldendick on polling and public opinion and Charles Finocchiaro on the congressional races.

The event is free and open to the public.

Donald Fowler, an adjunct faculty member in the political science department and a former chairman of the national Democratic Party, is moderating the discussion.
