CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -- Horry County Council will not get involved in a continuing legal fight over helicopter rides on the Grand Strand.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports the council voted Tuesday against pursuing the matter any further.

Earlier this year, Circuit Judge Larry Hyman ruled the rides offered by Helicopter Adventures since May could continue.

Residents of a nearby neighborhood sued, saying the rides that leave from near their neighborhood are is too noisy and dangerous.

The residents could appeal the court ruling, but the county council has voted not to get involved.

Earlier, the county Zoning Board of Appeals had said the rides were not allowed by current zoning. But the judge overturned that decision.
