ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina State University has named a 14-member committee to search for a new president for the Orangeburg school.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports the panel is made up of members of the university board's executive committee, alumni, employees and others.

The university has been without a permanent president since George Cooper resigned last March. Rita Teal served as acting president until July 5, when Cynthia Warrick was named interim president.

No date for finding a new president has been set.

But university board Chairman Walter Tobin has mentioned a new president could be named by April 1 and take office in July.
