Columbia, SC (WACH)--Gervais Street was closed for a couple of hours Saturday by the State house.
The annual Rally Walk for Life was held Saturday. The walk started at USC's Russell House. It ended at the front steps of the State House.
More than 1,000 people from all across the Palmetto State were in town and participated. They believe the protection of life should be one of the top priorities around the nation.
Officials that attended included State Attorney General Alan Wilson, State Senator's Larry Grooms, and Katrina Shealy.
"Of the three rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, without life, you can't have the pursuit of happiness," Wilson said. "We've got to celebrate those in the front lines protecting our most precious right."
