2 dead after truck hits a tree

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Two adults are dead and a teenager is injured after a pickup truck ran into a tree in rural Colleton County.

The Charleston Post and Courier reported Saturday (http://bit.ly/XcalJz ) the wreck was reported about 12:20 p.m. on Oregon Road, in the southern end of Colleton County.

Fire and Rescue Director Barry McRoy said the full-size Ford-F250 ran off the road and struck a tree, splitting the truck in two. Both adults in the cab died at the scene.

McRoy said a 13-year-old riding in the bed of the truck was thrown from the wreck and escaped with minor injuries.

The names of those killed had not yet been released.
