Power still out for some in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Crews are working to restore electric service across South Carolina after a powerful winter storm moved across the state.

The major electric utilities in the state reported nearly 3,000 customers without service early Thursday.

South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. reported about 1,600 customers without service. About 1,000 of those were in Richland County.

Progress Energy reported about 1,000 customers without service, mostly in the Florence area.

Duke Energy reported about 260 customers without service, mostly in Oconee County.

The storm system downed trees and caused minor damage across the state.

No serious injuries have been reported.
