Columbia, SC (WACH) - After several days of anticipation, Isaac is finally a hurricane with category one winds of 75 mph.

Isaac has been providing rip currents and heavy rain along to Gulf Coast states, starting with Florida on Sunday.

The counterclockwise flow of the storm as it moves through the Gulf of Mexico will bring added moisture to the southeast supporting scattered showers and storms.

Although the coastline of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and the panhandle of Florida will see the worst of the storm, heavy rain and gusty winds are possible for the Midlands and South Carolina.

Mandatory evacuations were issued for some counties in Alabama and Louisiana.  On Monday, SkyWACH WeatherBug Meteorologist, Jacob Wycoff described the scene in Dauphin Island, AL as a "ghost town."
