COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Village at Sandhill will be booming Wednesday night as the community flocks to this year's Freedom Festival.
The annual Fourth of July celebration is located at Clemson Road and Two Notch Road in Northeast Richland County.
A free concert by recording artist Ronnie McDowell will get the party started and a fireworks show will wrap up festivities at 9 p.m.
This year, the event will be even more exciting with the addition of a carnival featuring more than one dozen rides for kids of all ages.
"We wanted to do something a little different this year," said Village at Sandhill General Manager Jeff Harper, "It's always a challenge to top the previous year's event."
The shopping center will close at 6 p.m., but Harper says there will be plenty of food and drink vendors available after that time.
Coolers are allowed at this event even though they are not allowed at the summer concert series, which starts July 13 and will happen every other Friday through Sept. 21.
Parking is available for free at any of the shopping center parking lots.
