COLUMBIA (WACH) - Memorial Day Weekend offered another chance Sunday for people to escape the heat and humidity and enjoy a unique way of paying tribute to the United States' fallen heroes.

The Palmetto Concert Band took the Koger Center stage with shined instruments and patriotic measures of music to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and honor those who've made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States.

The 13th annual Memorial Sunday Concert was free to the public, and Palmetto Concert Band co-founder William J. Moody says it's a very moving experience.

"This concert is kind of special, because the occasion is honoring the Armed Forces; the men and women who have served in it," says William Moody.

The concert was organized through a partnership between the City of Columbia and the University of South Carolina.
