CHESTERFIELD, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a paternity dispute led to a shooting outside of the Chesterfield County courthouse that wounded two people.

Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker says a 21-year-old woman and her stepfather were shot around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Parker says Curtis Gorny and the woman were at the courthouse for a paternity test. The child was not with her mother.

The sheriff says Olivia Weaver was shot in the face and torso and taken to a hospital in Florence. Her stepfather, Donnie Nolan, was also wounded. The conditions of the victims were not known.

Parker says Gorny was spotted a few minutes after the shooting and led officers on a 12-mile chase, firing from his vehicle before he was forced into a ditch. No other injuries were reported.
