COLUMBIA (WACH) - A simple signature is a trending topic across the nation this week.

There are two signatures on United State's currency, and the signature of the Secretary of the Treasury is one of them.

It's small, but in the right lower corner of U.S. paper currency, the signature of the Secretary of the Treasury is printed.

President Obama has nominated his chief of staff, Jacob J. Lew, for the position of Secretary of the Treasury. Because of this, many are taking a closer look at Lew's distinct and unique signature.

New York magazine describes Lew as a man who is "known as a no-nonsense backroom negotiator with wonkish tendencies, who is admired on the left and grumbed about on the right," but they also describe his signature as "a Slinky that has lost its spring."

The publication recommends that Lew "upgrade his penmanship" before he has the signature printed on all U.S. paper currency.

President Obama said after announcing his nomination Thursday that he had not previously paid attention to Lew's signature. He joked that after noticing it, he considered resending the nomination. President Obama added that Lew assured him that he would work on making at least one letter legible.

What do you think of the signature? If your signature was printed on the nation's paper bills, would you change it?
