COLUMBIA (WACH) --- A man is dead after Richland County Investigators say he was trying to help breakup a fight between his girlfriend and her uncle.

Investigators say 51 year old Calvert Myers and his niece got into an argument inside Tony's Lounge located at 2412 Congaree Road early Saturday morning.

Authorities say the two were kicked out of the bar and the argument turned into a fight in the parking lot.

Deputies say the niece’s boyfriend tried to stop the fight and that’s when Myers pulled out a gun and shoot the victim several times killing him.

Myers is charged with murder.
