COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A week after the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Midlands residents plan to mourn the lives of those who died.

A candle light vigil is planned for Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Finlay Park -- "an evening to reflect, remember and rejoice... the loss of those gone too soon."

On Friday, December 14, a gunman shot his way into Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, killing 20 children ages six and seven and six adults who worked at the school.

In addition to the vigil, churches throughout the nation planned to ring their bells 26 times in memory of the victims at exactly 9:30 a.m. Friday, exactly seven days after the shooting.
