COLUMBIA (AP) -- A federal prosecutor in South Carolina is the recipient of a community leadership award from the FBI.

David Thomas is special agent in charge of the FBI's South Carolina operations. On Wednesday, he is scheduled to present the Director's Award for Community Leadership to Assistant U.S. Attorney Stacey D. Haynes.

Since 1990, each of the FBI's 56 field offices has nominated a person for the honor, which is given on behalf of FBI Director Robert Mueller. The award recognizes someone who has given outstanding service to the local community and made enduring contributions to the advancement of justice.
