COLUMBIA (WACH / AP) —The new internal structure of the Darla Moore School of Business is in place, leaving students, faculty, and staff to celebrate with a ceremony Monday.

The event included the placement of a 20-foot steel beam carrying a palmetto tree on top of the building, marking the start of the enclosure phase of the building, which has a price tag of $106 million.

With over 250,000 square feet, the new building will include 35 classrooms, 40 meeting rooms and 136 faculty offices.  Also included is an electronic trading room and areas for individual and group study.

Students, faculty and staff will move into the building a year from now after the Spring 2014 ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to U.S.C. president Harris Pastides.
