RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) -- Eastern Kentucky University's search for its next president is down to three finalists who will visit the Richmond campus in the next couple of weeks.

The finalists are Southern Utah University President Michael Benson, Lamar University vice president Gregg Lassen and College of Charleston business school Dean Alan Shao.

Eastern Kentucky officials said Monday that each finalist will visit the school for tours and a series of meetings and forums.

Benson will be on campus first from March 24-26. Lassen's visit will be next, followed by Shao's visit that will end April 3.

The selection of the finalists follows a national search by a 12-member presidential search and screening committee.

Current EKU President Doug Whitlock announced that he will retire effective this summer at the 15,300-student university.
