COLUMBIA (WACH) -- City of Columbia Water Works has issued a boil water advisory for the residents of Coatesdale Road from Veterans Road to Henry Curtis Road, Henry Curtis Road from Coatesdale Road to Coachmaker Road, and Coachmaker Road from Henry Curtis Road to Veterans Road.

City of Columbia Water Works advises water customers in this area to "vigorously" boil their water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking. Residents near the affected area who have lost water pressure are advised to do the same.

The City of Columbia has experienced a six-inch water line break that could result in bacterial contamination of water in the area.

Water customers are advised to continue boiling water as the City of Columbia works to fix the problem.

WACH FOX News will bring you up to date when the issue is fixed.

People with questions about the advisory can call the Lexington/Richland County Environmental Health Office at 576-2910 or the South Carolina Hospitality Association at 765-9000.

Call City of Columbia Water Works with other questions about the advisory at 733-8336 or 781-2181.
