COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Losing a spouse can take someone through a world of emotions, from loneliness and anger to bitterness and guilt but one organization in the Midlands is offering support to get widows smiling again.

Kimberly Richardson, founder of Widows of Opportunity, lost her husband 11 years ago after he was involved in a car crash.

"My world was turned upside down while dealing with a roller-coaster of emotions such as sleepless nights, depression, denial, anger, and anxiety.  Finally after eight years, says Richardson, "I am able to cope with life without him."

The support group allows widows to open up about their loss and learn effective ways of the reality of life after death.

Richardson says, "Each widow is given and opportunity to tell their story. By sharing together we can help to encourage, embrace and ultimately, empower one another. "

Widows of Opportunity meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Long Creek Church of Christ at 6:30 p.m.
