LAKE CITY, S.C. (AP) -- The small town of Lake City is accepting entries for a big art festival.

The first Artsfields festival is planned for 10 days in late April in the community in South Carolina's Pee Dee region.

Beginning Monday, organizers are accepting submission from artists who want to display new art. Artists from 12 southern states are eligible.

About 400 pieces will be selected for display. People attending the festival will be able to vote on their favorites to determine how $100,000 in prize money is awarded.

Organizers are calling it the largest arts competition in the Southeast. The Artsfields competition was created by local citizens, including financier Darla Moore, to celebrate their community.

The submission periods continues through Feb. 1 at www.artfieldssc.org .
