CHESTER, S.C. (AP) -- The Chester County grand jury has indicted a Richburg man in the July shooting death of another man.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported (http://bit.ly/XEJcij) that 21-year-old Antwan Terrill White is charged with murder in the July 29 shooting death of 39-year-old Michael Jermaine Terry of Lancaster.
The newspaper reported that police said that just minutes before Terry was shot in the head and chest, he had raped a 16-year-old girl.
An arrest warrant indicates Terry went to the girl's Richburg home and raped her in nearby woods.
Police were searching for Terry when they found his body on the road a half mile from the home.
Police say White went looking for Terry after hearing about the assault.
Defense attorney Arthur Gaston says White says he is innocent.
