KERSHAW COUNTY (WACH) - Three teens have been arrested by Kershaw County Sheriff's Office investigators in connection with a string of automobile break-ins.

Officials say Neco Dylan Barnes, 19, Kristian Cole Ariail, 18, and Matthew Chandler Waltz, 19, are accused of breaking into 15 vehicles and stealing guns, laptop computers, money, cell phones, electronics and other personal items since the beginning of March.

The trio was arrested on March 15 by deputies responding to a possible home break-in in Lugoff. They are charged with numerous counts of breaking into motor vehicles and receiving stolen goods valued over $2,000 but less than $10,000.

Responding deputies found the teens at the home along with items they say were stolen.

Investigators were able to use serial numbers from inventoried items to match many of the belongings to specific incidents that occurred in the Lugoff and Elgin areas.

"The key to solving these break-ins was having the serial numbers. Fortunately, some of the victims had recorded  them and were able to provide those numbers to  law enforcement after the items had been stolen," said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews.

The bonds for Barnes, Ariail and Waltz have been set at $100,000 each.

“Now that they are in jail, these three young men seem to be remorseful. It is unfortunate that they didn’t think about the consequences of their actions before they committed these crimes,” said Matthews.
