COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Two more Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center officers have been recommended for termination after an inmate beating in February.

Richland County spokeswoman Stephany Snowden said the officers were put on administrative leave without pay on Friday.

This brings the total number of officers recommended for termination to six.

Those officers reportedly did not inform supervisors about their knowledge of "use of force" on an inmate that ended up in the hospital four days after the incident.

The suspect is 37-year-old Robin Smith, who is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. He has been terminated.

Smith is accused of kicking the victim repeatedly in the head and side and put his boot onto the victim's head and neck while pulling the victim's arm the opposite direction, according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.

The investigation by the Richland County Sheriff's Department is ongoing.
