DALZELL, SC (WACH) - A man is in jail Monday night after Sumter Sheriff's deputies say a 37-year-old man was killed on the side of a Sumter County road.

According to an incident report issued by Sumter County, at about 9:50 Sunday night, Sumter deputies responded to a shots fired call on Old Camden Highway near Dallzell. Deputies said they found Jeffery Allen Scott laying on the ground next to a pickup with a gunshot wound to his lower body. There were also several women screaming at the scene. Deputies said there was a shotgun on the ground near Scott's body.

The report states witnesses at the scene said William Wallace Brock of Dallzell shot Scott. He was taken to jail, charged with murder, and denied bond.
