COLUMBIA (WACH) - Four children were taken to area hospital after a car rear-ended a school bus.

About 4:15 p.m. Monday, a school bus from Meadowfield Elementary was carrying students South along Veterans Road when the bus stopped at railroad tracks, as state law requires buses to do. A car did not stop and collided with the back of the bus.

Four students and the female driver of the car were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against the driver. The City of Columbia is investigating the accident.
