CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities have captured an inmate they say walked away from a pre-release center in Charleston.

South Carolina Corrections Department spokesman Clark Newsom said 21-year-old Travis Hammet was picked up shortly after 2:30 a.m. Friday by corrections officers and Charleston police. Newsom says Hammet offered no resistance when he was located after officers talked with his family members.

Hammet was reported missing after the facility's 9:30 p.m. inmate count Thursday. He was serving time for a second-degree burglary conviction. He was up for parole this year and was to have served his maximum sentence by 2015.

Newsom says Hammet will likely face disciplinary action and additional prison time.
