COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina's newest lawmaker in Washington is opening up new offices in his home state.

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott is officially opening up his offices Thursday in Columbia, North Charleston and Greenville.

Scott previously represented South Carolina's 1st Congressional District. In January, Gov. Nikki Haley appointed him to fill the remainder of Jim DeMint's term. DeMint resigned to take the helm of the Heritage Foundation in Washington. Later this year, voters will choose someone to replace Scott in the U.S. House.
