COLUMBIA (WACH)- The first South Carolina Cornbread Festival is happening on Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the 2800 block of Main St. and Newman St.

The event is being coordinated by the North Columbia Business Association and the mission is to raise awareness on diabetes with a healthy twist.

Comedian and Columbia native J. Anthony Brown is the Grand Marshal of the festival and will be emceeing on the main stage.

The mission of the festival is to raise diabetes awareness throughout the community while celebrating a South Carolina tradition with a healthy twist.

Healthy Columbia is hosting a free health screening at the festival from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
