CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Union school bus drivers in Charleston are about to vote on a new contract.

The drivers plan to vote on a new contract Saturday. The president of Teamsters Local 509, L.D. Fletcher, says if union members reject the contract, a strike would begin Monday.

School bus drivers in Charleston, Beaufort and Dorchester counties work for a private company and have been involved in a dispute over a new contract since last summer.

Drivers in Beaufort County accepted a new contract on Wednesday. Drivers in Dorchester District 2 did so on Tuesday.

Charleston school officials say they have not received any official communication from Durham School Services or the union.
