COLUMBIA (WACH) - A late morning accident involving three vehicles, including a Columbia Police Car, caused a major traffic headache for drivers coming into downtown Columbia Tuesday.

According to the Highway Patrol, the snarl started at about 11:15 a.m.  At that time, a Columbia Police Officer was stopped to assist a utility truck. The officer, Spencer Borton, was pulled off to the side of the road. A 2007 Saturn driven by Tom Crosby of Union pulled up behind Borton's Cruiser. A Chevy truck driven by Robert Riley of Hodges, ran into the back of Crosby's car. Crosby's car ran into the Police cruiser.

No one was injured and none of the parties were charged with any offenses at the scene.

The Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
