BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) -- Beaufort County deputies say a woman's body was found in a burning car near Bluffton and there was no sign the vehicle had been in a wreck.

Authorities say firefighters found the body around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday after putting out the blaze that consumed a car on the side of state Highway 46.

The coroner's office says the woman's identity won't be released until after an autopsy, which is scheduled for Wednesday.

Investigators say the woman's body was in the driver's seat, but they found no evidence the Honda Civic had been in a collision.
