SUMTER, S.C. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney is hosting his first town hall meeting of the year in Sumter.

The Republican congressman will meet voters at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Nettles Building Auditorium at the University of South Carolina-Sumter.

Mulvaney has been in the news recently for trying to tie Superstorm Sandy relief to spending cuts instead of borrowing the money and for saying the country isn't at risk of defaulting on its debt. Mulvaney also backs a bill that says Congress won't get paid if it doesn't pass a budget on time.

Mulvaney has just started his second term in South Carolina's 5th District, which now stretches from Gaffney to Sumter in the north-central part of the state.
