COLUMBIA (WACH) - A woman is in jail after police say she attacked a taxi driver with a knife and stole his cab on Falling Springs Road.

Shamona McFadden, 32, is charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Attempted Armed robbery, and Carjacking.

Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott said McFadden approached the male driver demanding money. When the  driver didn’t comply, Scott said McFadden used a sharp object to stab the victim several times on his head and face.

The incident occurred at the 3600 block of Falling Springs Road Wednesday.

McFadden is further accused of stealing the victim’s cab. The vehicle has since been recovered.

After the suspect left the scene, the victim ran to a nearby residence and asked someone to call 911.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

McFadden was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
