2 teenagers accused of robbing delivery drivers

COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department arrested two young men accused of robbing local food delivery drivers.

Tavone Young, 16, and a 15-year-old male juvenile are both charged with strong armed robbery and robbery. 

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said on several occasions Young and the juvenile robbed delivery drivers of food, money, cell phones, credit cards, a lap top, and bank cards. 

Lott says that on Monday, January 7 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a victim was delivering pizzas for Marcos Pizza to 620 Childs Street when Young and the juvenile approached the victim and robbed him of the pizzas, $20, his wallet, and bank cards. On Friday, December 21, 2012 at approximately 7 p.m., a victim was delivering food for Sammi’s Deli to 620 Childs Street when Young and the juvenile approached the victim and robbed him of the food, wallet, $400, credit cards, lap top, and cell phone. On Saturday, June 30, 2012 at approximately 10:30 p.m., the victim was delivering food for Teapot Chinese to 620 Childs Street, when Young and the juvenile came running towards the victim. The victim ran back to his vehicle as Young and the juvenile began throwing bricks at the vehicle as he escaped the area.      

Richland County Sheriff’s Department Investigators questioned witnesses in the area, they were able to determine that Young and the juvenile were responsible, according to Lott.

Lott said Young and the juvenile have been transported to the Detention Center for a hearing in Family Court.
