CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Five sea turtles stunned in cold northern waters are coming to South Carolina for treatment.

The five are being shipped south on Monday from the New England Aquarium. They will then be taken to the turtle hospital at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston.

It's a landmark of sorts for the South Carolina Aquarium.

When the turtles arrived, the aquarium will be treating 25 turtles at once at its facility on the riverfront in Charleston. That's the most that have ever been treated at one time at the aquarium since it opened its doors almost 13 years ago.

If the water gets too cold, seat turtles can become lethargic and barely function. They are often treated with antibiotics to stave off pneumonia and other infections.
