Forest Acres,SC (WACH)--The cold and wet weather did not stop hundreds of residents to tie up their running shoes.

Forest Acres hosted the Cold Winters Day 5K run and walk Saturday morning. The course was flat and runners had to go around the town's country club.

It was the last event of the Palmetto Grand Prix Tour and Tour De Columbia for the year.

But runners like Bryan Talkington say it was worth waking up early for.

"Personal goals," Talkington said. "Everybody has got goals. Diabetes is a big thing in my family. So I always try to stay fit to keep it away as long as possible. And obviously to look better. But diabetes is the biggest goal."

Awards, door prizes, and pizza were also given away after the race.
