Sumter Co. (WACH)--A late night accident involving two vehicles has resulted in the death of one driver.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened shortly after midnight on US-521 about five miles north of Sumter. According to the Highway Patrol, Diane Lyles,30, was driving her 2008 Honda Accord southbound when she was struck by a 1995 Honda Accord going northbound.

Authorities say the driver of the northbound car crossed the center land and hit Lyles. That driver was pronounced dead.

Lyles was airlifted to Richland Memorial Hospital. Her condition is unknown.

Authorities say both drivers were wearing a seatbelt. The accident is still under investigation.
