COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The biggest New Year's Eve event in Columbia is throwing its second annual bash to ring in the new year.

If you are in town to welcome in 2013, you might run across the throngs of people expected to flood downtown for the Famously Hot New Year event.

With the main stage edging into Gervais Street from the Statehouse lawn, the event will block off traffic and bring in bands, including The Wallflowers, Atlantic Starr, and DJ Biz Markie.

The event moved from Main & Hampton to Main & Gervais this year to give room for an even bigger turnout than the 20,000-strong crowd at last year's event.

Gervais Street will be closed starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday from Assembly Street to Sumter Street to prepare for the event.

Tickets for the event are on sale now until gates open at 6 p.m. Monday.

Good Day Columbia's Tyler Ryan will co-host this year's event, ringing in 2013 with a fireworks show over the Statehouse.
