Rondell Smith charged in Christmas Day death of 2-year-old

CONWAY S.C. (WACH/AP) – A 30 year-old Conway man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a 2-year-old boy shot himself on Christmas Day.
Horry County Police said that Sincere Smith found the gun on a table in his home around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and shot himself in the chest. Horry County Coroner Robert Edge reported that Smith died on the way to a hospital in Charleston.
WACH sister station WPDE reported that 30-year-old Rondell Smith has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. He was taken into custody on Wednesday and released on a $500 personal recognizance bond.
According to WPDE, Smith recently purchased the gun because someone tried to break into the family home two weeks ago.
